i forget that at one time i knew this was where i was supposed to be.
especially when i spend my nights and mornings alone crying.
and when i have to spend my afternoons in my room
because i don't want to take time away from their alone time.
or when i turn off my light at ten thirty and turn it right back on at seven thirty.
and when i miss my home more than i ever knew i could.
but then i get those texts that couldn't come at a more perfect time.
and he's always there to listen even though he has his own life.
and my prayers are more heartfelt and pleading than they ever have been before.
and i know that He's listening and giving me the strength that i'm asking for.
it just takes time i think.
to get used to living here again.
love, j.

prayer
I have so many amazing people in my life that are always here for me. They have the talent of listening. It's something that someday I hope to acquire. Just today I saw it in many people. Laura, my best friend, let me tell her all my worries in life while we sat in the car outside of her house. Molly, my big sister, let me send a million page text to her telling her all about my confusion in life at the moment. Parker, my dear friend, let me share things with him that I'm excited about.
I've had a rough past few days and these people and many others have just plain listened to me. I respect these people. As I try to learn from their examples I hope to become more like the Savior because that is truly what they are helping me do.
Most importantly though, I was reminded today that Heavenly Father is my #1 listener. He is always here for me no matter what mood I'm in, what time of day it is, or what things I'm going through in my life. He will never interrupt me or tell me I'm being dumb. He simply answers my questions and worries in ways that I never expect but that are perfect in every way.
Also, I tried to find a quote about prayer but I didn't have the time to find one that was exactly what I wanted so I'll share this one instead. It has a story with it. I was just reading Richard G. Scott's talk from this past General Conference about character and faith and I read the quote, "We become what we want to be by consistently being what we want to become each day." It is perfect for what I needed to hear in my life right now. I was so excited about it that I shared it with Parker. Little did I know that it's his facebook status right now. Who knew? I'm thankful for friends who are strong in the gospel, for General Conference quotes that change my life, for people who are willing to listen, and for the power of prayer.
