19.

i'm excited to be nineteen.
to put eighteen behind me.
all those mistakes and things
i wish i could take back.
i'm excited to be strengthened
through Him. and to move on.
to let Him guide my life.
to put my trust in Him more
than i ever have before.
because obviously i can't do it
without Him.
and you know what?
He knows my story from
beginning to end.
so why not trust Him. and let
him tell me where to go and
what i need to be doing with
my life. because that way,
i'll have the spirit comforting
me and He'll lead the people
that need to be in my life
into it.
so here's to almost being one
year older and wiser too.
to new trials and adventures.
to being a new me. and letting
the old me go.

love, j.

happy birthday you.

Tomorrow is Michael's birthday.
He'll be 19.
Weird.
We went to dinner.
And to the movies.
It was fun.
I decided that was better than getting him something.
Because what are you supposed to get a boy for his birthday that's leaving on his mission soon?
I didn't know.
So I figured a memory was better than anything.
Celebrate those that you love.
Even if it's not their birthday :)
Love, J.

my mom and dad.

Today is Mothers Day.

&

Today is my Dad's birthday.

Mom & Dad,
Thank you.
I am blessed to have you as my parents.
You taught me the gospel.
and you teach me more about it every single day.
Thank you for having family scripture study and prayer everyday.
Thank you for having Family Home Evening every week, even when we're all arguing.
You've taught me how important these things are now and how important they'll be in my future home.
Thank you for being hard workers.
Thank you for serving others whenever you get the chance.
Thank you for serving me.
Thank you for always stopping what you're doing to help me with my problems.
Thank you for teaching me not to complain and to love the church.
Thank you for fulfilling your callings beyond what they ask.
You've taught me through your example how to manage my money.
How to stay organized and be responsible.
Thank you for always encouraging me in my dreams.
You've taught me how to be supportive of those that I love.
and you've taught me that when I follow the spirit, I'll always be okay.
You are my biggest blessings.
and I'm eternally grateful for everything that you do for me.
Thank you for teaching me through your example what good parents should be like.
I love you.

birthday spotlight.

In Young Womens yesterday they did my birthday spotlight.
I'm awful at answering those type of questions even though they're about myself. Pathetic I know. but I kind of like them when they're not actually being asked directly to me and I can think about them for a while. I didn't really have that opportunity yesterday but I thought maybe some of you are the same way and would enjoy the questions and thinking about what your answer would be..

Q: What is your favorite thing in your room?
A: my bed. or my clothes.

Q: What is one habit that you must do everyday?
A: brush my hair.

Q: Do you have a hero? Who and why?
A: My sister, Molly. She lives her life by the spirit.

Q: What is one thing you want to do this year?
A: Learn to play the ukulele.
Q: What has been your favorite Young Womens activity?
A: Sleepover at Sister Ullery's house when I was in Beehives.

These are the lovely Young Women in my ward :)
I'm going to miss them.

Happy Birthday Mom!

 Dear Mom,
Happy Birthday! I think you're the greatest person ever. period. Thank you for sacrificing for me even on your birthday. It means a lot to me that you would spend your day doing things that I've asked to do. You're incredible. I owe so much to you and you ask for so little in return. You're a great example. I'm amazed everyday by the patience and the goodness that you show to everyone, especially to me. I know I'm a test of patience more times than not and I'm thankful that you do more than just put up with me and that you always teach me in every situation. I'm thankful for your example that I get to see constantly that reminds me of how important it is to live the gospel. I love being able to see your testimony in every thing that you do. You sacrifice for so many people. Thank you for always being here for me. Especially when it's twelve at night and you listen to me while I tell you about all my teenage girl drama that's really so silly but I don't realize that until after. I hope that someday I can take everything that you've taught me and that you'll continue to teach me and put it into my own life when I have my own children. Elder M. Russell Ballard said it best when he said to young women, "Please look to your faithful mothers for a pattern to follow. Model yourselves after them, not after celebrities whose standards are not the Lord's standards and whose values may not reflect an eternal perspective. Look to your mother. Learn from her strengths, her courage, and her faithfulness. Listen to her. She may not be a whiz at texting; . . . But when it comes to matters of the heart and the things of the Lord, she has a wealth of knowledge. As you approach the time for marriage and young motherhood, she will be your greatest source of wisdom. No other person on earth loves you in the same way or is willing to sacrifice as much to encourage you and help you find happiness--in this life and forever. Love your mother, my young sisters. Respect her. Listen to her. Trust her. She has your best interests at heart. She cares about your eternal safety and happiness. So be kind to her. Be patient with her imperfections, for she has them. We all do." Thank you for living up to the words of the apostles. Thank you for teaching me to not give up but to continually try to be a better daughter. I promise I will. I love you Mom.
Love,
Jamie
